Save Somerset from Pylons

Danger  -  take action against 46m high pylons carrying 400,000 volts of electricity from Hinkley Point to Avonmouth which will cut up our villages and destroy them forever!

3rd March, 2010. Due to public pressure National Grid has announced plans to hold a series of events to further explain the background to its proposals for a new overhead electricity line between Bridgwater and Avonmouth.  Click here to find out more.

Urgent news just in! We needyour help before the 19th February!

Please write to the National Grid before this Friday, 19th February to insist that there are other ways to carry electricity! At the moment the National Policy Statements (NPS) EN1 and EN5 are written on the assumption that the only method to transmit electricity is by these 1960′s pylons. Please write before the 19th February to insist that EN5 and EN1 are changed – remember that these are our national Policy statements; have your say in how YOU want them forumulated. Pylon the Pressure is against the National Grid Hinkley Point C Proposal to route 37 miles of new 400,000 volt power lines and pylons through Somerset.

We oppose BOTH routes! Make sure you do too!

The final decision made will be based on environmental impact, cost of implementation and the degree of public objection. The National Grid have not carried out adequate consultation with the people it will affect.
